Sugar mills obtained ₹15,948 cr from govt in 5 years

The Authorities has launched round ₹15,948 crore to sugar mills in varied schemes in 5 years, in line with a reply in Rajya Sabha on Friday. Replying to a query in Rajya Sabha, Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Trade, stated that the Centre has introduced varied schemes within the final 5 years to enhance liquidity of the sugar mills enabling them to clear cane worth dues of farmers.

These schemes included creation and upkeep of buffer inventory of 30 lakh tonnes (lt) of sugar with impact from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019, and the scheme for defraying expenditure in the direction of inner transport, freight, dealing with and different fees on export of sugar season 2018-19.

There was a scheme for offering help to sugar mills for bills on advertising and marketing prices, together with dealing with, upgrading and different processing prices and inner transport and freight fees for sugar seasons 2020-21, 2019-20 and 2018-19. There was additionally help to sugar mills season 2019-20 to facilitate export of sugar. “Beneath these schemes, a sum of about ₹15,948 crore has been launched to numerous sugar mills of the nation in final 5 monetary years, together with the present fiscal until January 31,” she stated.

Espresso

Agri GVA
