Amara Raja inks settlement with Piaggio to develop and provide lithium-ion cells, battery packs

Amara Raja Superior Cell Applied sciences (ARACT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Vitality & Mobility Ltd (ARE&M), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Piaggio Automobiles Pvt Ltd, a 100 per cent Indian subsidiary of the Italian auto main Piaggio Group, to develop and provide LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) cells and chargers for its electrical autos, at Amara Raja’s Gigafactory in Divitipally, Telangana.

ARACT held a ground-breaking ceremony for its Buyer Qualification Plant (CQP) for cell manufacture at Divitipally, Mahabubnagar district right now. Part 1 of the battery pack plant was inaugurated with a capability of 1.5 GWh. The plant will make Li-ion battery packs particularly suited to Indian situations, which will probably be provided to main EV OEMs, in addition to getting used for stationary power storage necessities.
