Ex-Navy vets freed by Qatar chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai, reward PM Modi

etting foot to their homeland after a number of agonising months of captivity in Qatar, seven of the eight Indian navy veterans who have been sentenced to dying on ‘espionage’ fees, heaped reward on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying they wouldn’t have been freed had it for the sustained diplomatic efforts at his behest to safe their launch. Relieved to lastly stroll free, the seven former Navy officers raised chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ after arriving on the Delhi airport within the early hours of Feb 12.

One of many Navy veterans who returned from Qatar stated, “We waited virtually for 18 months to be again in India. We’re extraordinarily grateful to the PM. It wouldn’t have been attainable with out his intervention and his equation with Qatar. We’re grateful to the Authorities of India from the underside of our hearts for each effort that has been made and today received’t have been attainable with out these efforts.”The eight Indian nationals have been imprisoned in Qatar since October 2022 and have been accused of allegedly spying on a submarine programme. The retired naval personnel have been sentenced to dying by a Qatar courtroom on fees that haven’t but been made public formally.
