IIT Madras-incubated ePlane might disrupt the drone sector

t’s a standard sight to see small dimension drones with a carrying capability of 5 to 10 kg within the sky spraying pesticides; concerned in surveillance of essential infrastructure or delivering medication in a distant place. However, the IIT Madras incubated ePlane is making an attempt to disrupt the sector by growing electrical Vertical Takeoff and Touchdown (eVTOL), a muti-copter drone that may carry each cargo and passengers. 

The 3X3 m sized drone can carry 35 to 50 kg of cargo; journey at 400 ft and as much as 50 km. ePlane, which acquired a funding of $5 million for the undertaking, is constructing India’s first and the world’s most compact flying electrical taxi with a imaginative and prescient to make flying ubiquitous, says Satyanarayanan R Chakravarthy, Professor, Division of Aerospace Engineering, IIT-Madras, and founder director of ePlane.
