Mangaluru airport launches worldwide cargo terminal

Mangaluru Worldwide Airport commenced worldwide cargo operations from its built-in cargo terminal  ]on July 2, with flight IX 815 ferrying 2522 kg of vegetables and fruit to Abu Dhabi. The formal launch was held on Friday within the presence of the airport’s management crew in addition to representatives from Customs, airways, and the Airport Safety Group of CISF.

A media assertion mentioned the beginning of worldwide cargo operations will allow exporters from coastal Karnataka, Kerala and the hinterland to export perishables equivalent to contemporary vegetables and fruit, meals, machine elements, textiles, sneakers, tropical fish, frozen and dry fish, plastic colouring materials and ship elements (propeller) within the type of stomach cargo.

IndiGo and Air India Specific, with their connectivity, will allow exporters to ship cargo to Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Kuwait, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain.

The airport began home cargo operations on Might 1, 2023. On Might 10, 2024, the Commissioner of Customs appointed the airport as a Custodian in addition to a Customs Cargo Service Supplier, approving the beginning of worldwide cargo operations.
