The Authorities e-Market (GeM) portal was launched on August 9, 2016, for on-line purchases of products and companies by all central authorities ministries and departments.
“As of March 28, the procurement has crossed ₹4 lakh crore. It’s historic,” GeM CEO P Okay Singh advised reporters right here.

In 2021-22 the procurement worth stood at ₹1.06 lakh crore and it crossed ₹2 lakh crore final monetary 12 months.
He stated that procurement of companies from the portal has jumped from ₹66,000 crore in 2022-23 to ₹2.05 lakh crore to this point this fiscal.
Equally, items value ₹1.95 lakh crore have been purchased from the platform until March 28 this fiscal.
GeM has over 63,000 authorities purchaser organisations and over 62 lakh sellers and repair suppliers providing a variety of services and products.

Presently, authorities departments, ministries, public sector items, state governments, and central armed police forces are allowed to hold out transactions via this portal.
The portal gives a variety of merchandise from workplace stationery to automobiles. Vehicles, computer systems and workplace furnishings are among the main product classes.
Providers, together with transportation, logistics, waste administration, webcasting and analytical, are listed on the portal.
