Telangana pegs losses at₹5,438 cr, seeks Central help

The Telangana Authorities has sought the Central assist in mitigating the large losses attributable to the current heavy rains and floods. Pegged the losses at ₹5,438 crore, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has appealed to Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Improvement, to bail out the State from the disaster. 

The Union Minister held a gathering with the Chief Minister and different Ministers on the Telangana Secretariat on Friday, to evaluate the scenario. The Minister, accompanied by some Ministers within the Reddy’s Cupboard, visited the flood-affected areas in Khammam earlier within the day.

Giving a PowerPoint presentation to the Union Minister, Reddy highlighted the severity of the scenario, stating that districts like Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Suryapet acquired an unprecedented 40 cm of rainfall in a single day.

He stated the State Authorities has initiated instant aid measures, offering₹ 10,000 to every affected household. Nonetheless, the size of the catastrophe necessitates substantial Central help.
