The continuing Meeting elections in Jammu and Kashmir marks a pivotal second, as it’s the first election because the abrogation of the erstwhile state’s restricted autonomy in 2019.
Jammu and Kashmir’s constitutional standing was modified, and it was bifurcated into two union territories—Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh—below the J&Okay Reorganisation Act of 2019.
In line with the Act, the brand new meeting may have restricted powers, with the lieutenant governor holding central authority, marking a shift from the earlier state assemblies.
